Thachakudi Neelakantan Natesan
born in Trivandrum in 1900, followed his passion for art and decided to start his own handicrafts business. Facing the challenges of losing his father at a young age and shouldering the responsibility of supporting his family, he began crafting artistic items from coconut shells, such as buttons, ashtrays, and flower pots. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to hire and guide others in making these items. He travelled on foot to find customers and foreigners residing in hill stations became his initial clientele. As demand gradually grew, he expanded his business and established Natesan's Ivory Works in Mascot Hotel at Trivandrum. Eventually, he moved to Chennai and later opened a shop in Bangalore's West End Hotel. His dedication to art and business made him successful, and he left a lasting legacy upon his passing in 1991.
